Someone in the Madison area recently contacted me. She needs a photograph taken of her painting that is going to an international art contest- the image needs to be 50 dpi, width 1969 pixels x height 4921 pixels. Wow! She doesn't want an interpolated image. It will be printed on a very large banner.
If you can do this, contact her at: info@colouriste.com Her name is Kellianne.
Thanks guys!

I'm not very good at math, but when I multiply 1969x4921, I get 9,689,449. You could do it with a 10 MP camera, or 6 MP camera if you know how use photomerge.

You should be able to shoot this in sections and stitch it together to meet higher resolution needs. Color matching is going to be more of an issue with artwork reproduction. It is not so much a matter of calibration, though that is very important, but how does your camera reproduce each color. There is always a different bias from the various manufacturers and artists can be very picky.
