Hello All! Hope everyone is doing well. We have been so busy, and the kids keep growing! We are in need of a family portrait this summer and are thinking of looking to do an exchange. "We shoot your family and give you the files, you shoot our family and give us the files." Any posted photos on our website in the "who we are" section would include photo credit, of course. We would need someone that has experience with kids (we have three- two are little). We have a studio to use for your session, but would prefer to not have ours done here. We have photographed the kids here so much that I'm hoping a new place/photographer will scare them into behaving for the session! Outdoors might be a possibility, too. We like causal, but not total photojournalism, and not cheesy. The other catch is that this will probably have to be on a Sunday, as we only have a couple other dates that could work that are not Sundays. If a lot of people are interested in this idea, we could also create a whole thread of people that are willing to exchange services, so that others that interested can get in on this. Thanks! Becky & Chris

This is a very interesting idea. I was just thinking of who I could get to take our family portrait. The only reason I might not participate is I am sure every photographer on this board has a certain style and expectation when shooting photographs. And most photographers whether they say they are or not, shoot for themselves. They shoot for what they like. I might cave under the pressure of shooting under the expectations of an Applebyphoto, or a Pierre's Portrait Art, or some other highly gifted photographers that have specific expectations for what they want. In any case, I did finish some family portraits, so if anyone likes this style, "My Style" hehehe... I am also interested in a family portrait. lockphoto.blogspot.com/2008/06/providence-family-portraits.html

LOL! It's flattering to know that we could be considered "highly gifted"! ;D
Seriously, there is no interest, except Eric saying he won't participate? Our kids aren't that bad, really!

Dave and I would be interested in doing something like this. Except we don't have a family - yet! But the lil' one will be here soon enough. But we could for sure use some better pics of us. We have not had any pics professionally taken since we got married.
We do not have portraits on our website at the moment but we are working on putting it back up. We'll see when that gets done.
If anyone is interested and wants to see what we do for family portrait sessions shoot me an e-mail and I can send you a link to some galleries.

There are alot of highly gifted photographers on this forum. That's why I come here, to steal all you ideas. I would be happy to do a portrait for anyone, but it would have to be outside. I shoot all my stuff outside this time of year, I just get better results, I am not much of a inside studio photographer.

Well Becky did our family portraits last winter and they were beautiful! My family still raves about them. Once a year I get our family portraits done by a professional photographer or else I would NEVER be in the photos. My MIL scolded me (kind of) for not taking any photo of my daughter trick-or-treating for the first time or first snow this year, first snowman, etc. I'm a beginner compared to most of the talent on this board, but I do have a studio available for use in Madison. My style is candid, not traditional posed. More photojournalistic outdoors. My site www.funkymonkeyphoto.comSo I'd love to swap family portraits if anyone is interested, as long as expectations are not too high:)
